Tmj: The process of getting your wisdom tooth extracted may -having your mouth wide open for so long--may have irritated your left jaw at the temporomandibular joint. Call the oral surgeon or dentist. If there are no contraindications, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory meds may help relieve your discomfort--or warm compresses.

Jaw Stiffness: After removal of wisdom teeth depending on the access to the tooth could impact greatly on your post-op experience. If your jaw had to be held open for a long period of time the muscles around the entire area could be sore, like a pulled muscle elsewhere in your body that may take several days to a few weeks to completely quiet down. Anti-inflammatories warm compresses will aid.
