See below: Please note that all lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the test is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, chromogranin a levels are associated with neuroendocrine type of tumors, like carcinoids.

Tumor marker: This is a normal substance but if you have a medullary carcinoma of the thyroid, a carcinoid, a pheochromocytoma, or maybe an oat cell carcinoma of the lung, the tumor is likely to greatly overproduce it. Your high reading doesn't prove anything, though, in the absence of other evidence of tumor. It's one piece of a puzzle.
