Very long list: A very long list of things can cause hallucinations in elderly people. Medications are probably the worst offenders, as their varying side effects and metabolism can result in delirium which includes hallucinations. Infections, respiratory problems, neoplasms. Metabolic problems (diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperglycemia, thyroid dysfunction, etc), liver ; kidney disease, psychotic depression, etc.
