Hey docs, i am wondering if there are any hereditary causes of progressive loss of vision to complete blindness that typically don't occur until an adult/elderly?

Yes: The most common in this category is one of the family of diseases that cause retinal degeneration termed retinitis pigmentosa. There are also some cornea diseases that can do this also although corneal transplantation frequently can help these. There are a few rare optic nerve diseases inherited that do this with names like Lebers disease and choroideremia.
