Depends how long: It has been there. Foot drop usually occurs from damage to the peroneal (or tibial nerve-same nerve, different generations name), or an injury up stream from there, including everything from lower motor neuron entrapments to central injuries like brain injuries. Afo's can help support it, but if it has been around a very long time, it is not likely the nerve will repair itself.

Depends on : Tiology, you may not be able to. Sometimes if it is being caused by a picned nerve release of the nerve can cause one to regain function. But, in other circumstances you may not be able to.
