Manuka honey: I would not recommend the use of any honey as the only treatment for asthma. The anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory effects of honey are mild and it is unknown if these effects are present once eaten, as opposed to using on the skin or topically. I recommend you consult your pediatrician or asthma specialist. On the other hand, usual amounts of honey given to a child should not be harmful.

Manuka allergy: Unless your child is allergic to honey, manuka will likely be safe to give to your child.
