Polio ? really ? : Polio drops have not been in regular use in the us for over 10 years. They are still used in many countries, but rare polio cases in a few immune defective people/yr led to a switch to the enhanced injected (dead) polio vaccine. The only oral drops commonly in use are for rotovirus, and partial doses as for polio are fine.As a weakened but living germ, it replicates in the gut for weeks after a dose.
