A member asked:

Are there any theories or reasons why anxiety & depression may be more acute in the a.m. rather than p.m ? what can be done to alleviate this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This is common in : Depression and is called diurnal variation. Laboratory studies have shown that moodis regulated by a circadian clock interacting with the sleep homeostat. Circadian means 24-hour period. This actually is a predictor of a good response to antidepressant treatment. Aggressive medicinal treatment as well as psychotherapy can bring this under good control. Discuss this further with her psychiatrist if you are not yet feeling well.
