Discuss with your Dr: Your doctor is in a better position to address this question. If you are on fentanyl patch, a phone call to that doctor will only take them a few minutes to answer. I would call them and discuss it. Putting them on the same page as you are feeling and thinking about your options, is why they are in your life.

Talk to doctor: In my practice, with new patients on the fentanyl patch, i keep them on their previous oral narcotics for a few weeks, until we have found the correct dose of the patch to provide them with adequate pain relief. Even after that, many patients, especially those with cancer related pain, experience regular break through pain episodes, and need additional pain medication.
