A member asked:

Should i test for alzheimers biomarkers or just let nature take its course?

Nature: At this point, the biomarkers may increase your anxiety but not help you. I would suggest doing the things that prevent alzheimer's: 1. Routine physical exercise 2. Socialization (friends, family, etc.) 3. Routine mental exercise (crosswords, sudoku, quilting, reading) 4. Lots of fruits and vegetables.

Depends on symptoms: Do you possess cognitive problems, such as memory, focus, concentration, loss of organizational skills, then this is part of a diagnostic workup? Do not chase after genetic studies, as these may be non-specific and misleading at this time, even if runs in your family. Be like arlo guthrie (whose dad had huntington's), do not brood about potentials, instead eat healthy, exercise body and brain.
