Maybe normal: The liver produces glucose during the night while we sleep, and many people with diabetes, who check their blood sugar frequently, notice that their fasting blood sugar is higher in the morning than when they went to sleep the night before, even though they had not eaten anything. Please discuss this with your treating physician. Your hba1c may be more important than occasional readings.
