How come wen ever i have gas stuck in my abdomen it causes pain in the left side of my chest? as soon as i "fart" the pain is gone! why chest pain?

Colon: The colon travels to the upper and then down the left side of the abdomen, to the rectum. Excessive gas may cause discomfort and pain on the left side of the abdomen and chest which in turn may be relieved by flatus. Not all chest pain is caused by gas though and may need further evaluation.
