Physical exam: Is he losing his hair? Telogen effluvium and alopecia areata can both affect teens and don't need blood work. As junior learns about his changing body, he may have noticed that individual hairs get lost all the time as the follicles go through their cycle. Reassurance may be all that's needed. Teens don't like advice from parents and he may have to figure this out on his own. Best wishes.
