Are there racial disparities in regards to tuberculosis infection?

3 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Yes: Tuberculosis is more likely to affect the poor. This is reflected in higher rates of TB among blacks, asians, and hispanics. This is also related to higher HIV infection rates among minorities. In addition there are racial differences in the way TB behaves once the person is infected.

Not really: Depends your contacts. If TB is more common in your environment than the risk of infection is increased.
