I was exposed to someone having severe tuberculosis today, what should be my immediate step in order to prevent the infection?

It depends on the actual exposure. Is the person getting treated? For how long have they been receiving treatment? Do they have negative sputum tests? If the person’s sputum tests are negative, the chances of you getting it are very low. If they are not being treated and you were with them without protection (masking), then you should see your doctor for testing. Good luck!
