I have mild asthma and take antihistamines year round, i've stopped taking them unless needed but my asthma has flared up, are they connected?

Asthma: By not taking your antihistamines you are increasing your risk for asthma.

Asthma: Asthma can be triggered by allergies. Anthistamines will not treat the asthma but you need to manage both problems at the same time to achieve adequate control of your asthma. I suggest you consult an allergist for your best options.

Yes: Asthma is allergy of the lung, so taking an anti-histamine will help alleviate some of the symptoms of asthma but not all ; for moderate to severe cases of asthma, just taking an anti-histamine could be very dangerous. If you have asthma year around, you probably need to be on a steroid type inhaler or a longer acting medication such as singular. I suggest seeing a doctor, get lung function test.
