A member asked:

Why does the memory fail as people get older?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many causes: A neurologist could answer this better than i can, but as a person ages, the likelihood of a disorder called dementia can occur. There are several types of dementia caused by different things, vascular dementia related to the circulatory system, neurons that stop working (get tangled), and many other pathology that can occur. All of these can affect a person's memory.
