Canker sores: Canker sores or aphthous stomatitis is an oral lesions that appear on the soft tissues in your mouth and your gums. It is painful condition and each time appear in the different location in your mouth. In most cases canker sores go away on their own in about 19 days. The real cause of canker sores is unknown.

Oral Sores: We can't diagnose the type of oral sores your son gets on a routine basis. I would have him examined by a dentist when they are present to obtain a definitive diagnosis. Then your questions can be better answered. I doubt what you son gets would increase his chance of cancer. Have it looked at for peace of mind and perhaps ways to prevent it's occurrence, frequency or intensity.
