Prostate cancer: You may be referring to gleason score which is used to assess the aggressiveness of prostate cancer when the pathologist examines the tissue under the microscope. The score is 2 to 10, the lower number being less aggressive and the higher the most aggressive. A score of 7 would be toward the moderately aggressive side.

Gleason grade 7: Gleason grading used to identify malignancy level of prostate cancer & based upon microscopic appearance of the cancer. Grade 7 is probably the most common grade of prostate cancer & is not highly malignant. Actual grading is made by assigning pattern relating to appearance of malignancy from 1 - 5. Then pattern # of the cancer present in > 50% of tumor is added to # of 2nd & this = Gleason score.

Here are some...: I guessed what you meant is referred to Gleason tissue grading system, which was designed by Dr. Gleason, a renown pathologist. He keenly observed: The cell arranging regularity of prostate cancer (P-Ca) is highly correlated with how well a PCa may behave. The more orderly arranged the cancer cells are, the more the PCa will better behave. Thus far, this system has been still well received.
