May not see it yet: The tendon lining is usually quite thin and by itself does not swell much, but may produce enough symptoms to be diagnosed as tendinitis.

Achilles: Sometimes there is no swelling , but enough pain to have the appropriate diagnosis.

Its possible to have: No or minimal swelling with achilles tendinitis, when its been there for sometime, like in subacute or chronic forms of it.
