No: If a person has had a brain abscess and the underlying cause isn't clear (iv drug abuse, heart infection, cystic fibrosis, tetralogy, etc.), look for osler-weber-rendu and for an atrial septal defect. These two allow systemic venous blood to bypass the lungs where bacteria-laden microparticles are often removed.
