A member asked:

What type of drugs are newborns tested for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on situation: Normal newborns are not usually screened for drugs. If the child and family services have a case open, urine and meconium are collected.Urine is screened for common drugs, while the meconium is sent for special studies that can pick up almost anything used over the preceding few months.
