Different materials: Porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns and composite resins can be used to make teeth whiter. Bleaching might also be a way to whiten or lighten your teeth. Your dentist needs to do a thorough exam prior to any treatment being performed and then go over the pros and cons of each procedure with you, so you can make an informed decision.

At the dentist office you will get a thorough cleaning and polishing to remove any stains on your teeth. After that is done, you may benefit from a bleaching treatment to actually whiten your teeth a shade or two. This can be done in office or with a kit that you take home.

Dr. Stephen Gordon

Sure, but why?: Dentists who are trained to move teeth through orthodontic means can make teeth straighter and using the same concept, could conceivably make the crooked. The question is why would anyone want less than a perfect teeth alignment, as they are designed to function more ideally that way?

NO: Over the counter "white strips" is the closest you'll get to whitening your teeth without seeing a dentist. Whitening tooth pastes have minimal effect, so need to face the reality that for the best results there are no short cuts to whiter teeth. If that's what you want, schedule an appointment with a dentist. You'll be amazed by the results!

Yes: The pediatric dentists often handle such cases where the need to crown the anterior baby teeth. There are resin and white coated metal pre-formed crowns that can cover these teeth to protect them and look pleasing. They often use pre-formed plastic sleeves that the fill with resin to bond to teeth. So you can worry less about what they look like. Good luck.
