Not advisable: You cannot personally treat an abscess... Medications only mask the symptoms to that a dentist can treat the tooth. You will need to see a dentist, sooner than later.

Root Canal Treatment: There are only 2 good ways to treat a tooth abscess. If the tooth can be treated so that it will last a long time, then traditional root canal treatment is needed to remove the infection from the tooth's inside. If the tooth is so damaged that it can't be restored for long-term use, then it should be removed. Antibiotics will only help for a very short time. There's nothing you can do yourself.
