CBCT: Pet scan can produce false positives. While cancer cells often take up more glucose than normal cells, sometimes normal cells take up high amounts of glucose too. For the jaw imaging, request a cone beam ct with small field of view for better resolution and less radiation.

False positive...: It is common to see FDG uptake in the jaw area. Do you have dental or periodontal disease? Tmj? Inflammation and infection can take up glucose. Do you have any symptoms in that area? What was the pet done for? The uptake would be more concerning if there is a history of head or neck cancer. It is hard to give you a good answer without knowing your history and seeing your scan.
