Measure your pulse: Do you feel that the racing heart awakens you or do you awaken and feel that your heart is racing? Either way, get a gadget that measures your blood pressure and pulse at the time your symptoms are happening. This would tell you if your heart is significantly racing(over 100 beats/minute). If so have a checkup, thyroid test, ekg and wear a heart monitor for 24 hours for more information.

Holter: Get a check up, you may need a holter monitor (24hr heart rate monitor) to rule out bad arrhythmias - it might all be panic, but good idea not to miss something important.
