Wash your hands: Salmonella is foodborne. Avoid raw eggs (cookie dough, cake batter, homemade ice cream, egg nog), wash your hands before and after going to the bathroom, before and after preparing food (especially raw meats), before and after eating, any time you touch reptiles and birds or clean up animal feces, and any time you change someone's diaper.
