UTI: If you have been treated with an antibiotic in the past and it did not work, the chance of it working this time is low, as they are often caused by the same bacteria.

Same/different bug: Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is a reasonable choice for UTI treatment, however not all bacteria that cause utis are susceptible to this antibiotic. The gold standard is to have a urine culture of the organism to know its antibiotic sensitivity pattern. Without knowing more specifics or whether the recurrence is the same bug, it is hard to know whether Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) will help this time.
