See a hand surgeon: Early carpal tunnel syndrome is easily treatable, either with splinting or a simple operation. Longstanding or severe median nerve compression can cause permanent numbness, pain and weakness. Get it checked out.

Time to see the doc: The longer she stays numb the more difficult it can be for the nerve to recover. Get her in to see the hand specialist.
