Loosing your: Memory is a very sensitive issue and denial plays a big part. Questions that remind him that he doesn't remember things are likely to irritate him.

Probably frustrated: He may feel frustrated by his difficulty comprehending and/or expressing what he wants to convey--distract if u see him tensing up & try 2 keep things simple.

Redirect: Behavioral problems in dementia are very common. Irritability is one of the most common. First, don't argue with the dementia(it will always win). Try redirection if one can't past the trigger. At times we need to just let it go and move on. Hoever if the irritability has an impact on care or safety sometime meds are needed.

Yes. Seek support!: It sounds like a very common situation when dealing with dementia. Find support and advice - it is out there. Also, remember that he's hurting too. When things get too bad, many family members feel they need to find a home for the elder. It's not easy no matter what, so get support. Till then, back down from requests and try again later if necessary. Or find alternatives to words. Safety 1st!
