Manage lung disease: Low sodium level frequently occurs due to lung disease. The fluids around the lungs need to be managed. If corrected, the the sodium will be corrected. For instance, if pneumonia or infection of pleura are treated then the fluid will resolve and sodium too. Taking more sodium/salt by mouth is the wrong approach. Also, cancer of the lungs can cause this picture. Discuss findings with your doctor.
