Is a treadmill test accurate enough to rule out possible coronary artery disease?

Good tool: Treadmill stress test is a good test to evaluate for risk stratification for coronary artery disease. It is most helpful in intermediate risk category. It may not be accurate in certain subsets. It has 67% sensitivity and 72% specificity to identify cad. For definitive diagnosis further testing e., g., coronary angiogram or stress test with nuclear imaging may be required.

No: Stress tests, like a treadmill, only check for coronary artery disease (CAD) that is significant enough to cause low blood flow into a part of the heart, which will show ECG changes or show decreased movement on an echocardiogram. But milder CAD will not be ruled out by treadmill test.
