See Dentist ASAP: In the mean time - rinse with warm salt water after eating, avoid sticky and/or sweet foods, brush area gently, take Motrin or advil (ibuprofen) as per instructions on the box. The less food and/or bacteria are hanging around the better you will feel. However the problem will not go away until you have a dental professional render proper and urgently needed care.

Severe: Severe pain usually means severe infection. There's nothing you can do or take to fix this. Pain meds, antibiotics, salves, snake oil, drops, etc, will not cure the infection. You must see a dentist for resolution. Don't wait...Call now.

Meds. Then dentist.: If you can see a dentist now. Do it. If not, OTC meds, Orajel. Or MD/ER for antibiotics/pain meds until you can visit a dentist.

The best thing you can do for several dental pain is to see a dentist and find out what is going on. Hospital emergency rooms are not the best place to go because most hospitals do not have dentists in the ER.

Severe dental pain is appropriately handled by the experts, i.e., dentists. Do not delay, see a dentist ASAP and get diagosed and treated.
