A 38-year-old member asked:
is it possible to faint when you're already lying down?
1 doctor answer • 3 doctors weighed in

Dr. Edward Smith answered
Neurosurgery 54 years experience
Yes but it's hard: Fainting is due to lack of blood flow to the brain. Anything interfering with blood flow can cause fainting. Being upright simply makes you more susceptible to the effects of gravity because blood has to be pumped "uphill".

What is the side affects of blacking out on vodka?

Dr. Stuart Wasser answered
Addiction Medicine 35 years experience
Wrong question: It isn't that there are hidden side effects, it's the significance. Blackouts usually imply a bac of greater than 0.250. Most people would have passed out by then. To remain up and partially functioning suggests tolerance and therefore a concern for alcoholism.
