Insect bite allergy: For insect bites, you would expect to get a local reaction or swelling at the bite site. If you develop systemic symptoms like generalized hives away from the bite site, difficulty breathing or having abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, you should see an allergist to be evaluated because those allergic reactions can be dangerous.
