Need calcium: Once a child is over the age of 1 year, milk should be viewed as a beverage, with a max of about 16 ounces a day. Milk is important for the calcium and vitamin D it provides, but your child can get this from yogurt, cheese, and green veggies. If no allergies, you can use soy milk, almond milk and rice milk too.
