Swimming : Is possible and i was told that it would help the ribs to heal when i broke ribs a few years ago. You do need to be careful getting in and out of the pool and stop if it hurts, consult with your physician to be sure it is ok to start swimming.

Yes: Depending in how long and what type of fracture is a simple n it was usually 3 months , but if you ask ortho will say 3 or less months.
