Patient(67 yrs old)suffering from ascitis diagnosed but all test reports are positive, what's going on?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Liver or ovarian in: The most common cause of ascites results from release of vascular endothelial growth factor released from metastatic tumor to omentum. When this is neg then one looks at the liver for advanced cirrhosis. If both are neg. certain infections such as TB peritonitis causes ascites. A shunt into peritoneum to jugular vein minizes fluid accumulation.
