A member asked:

Should i be concerned if my mom has pancreatic cancer and has had a good exposure to fifth disease. does anyone know the risk she could be facing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Little risk: Fifth disease is usually caused by parvo b19. A majority of adults are immune from subclinical infection. This is troublesome to people who have difficulty making red blood cells. It is not an opportunist otherwise. Pancreatic cancer is a rough disease but inability to make red cells is seldom part of the picture.
