What to do if i am getting an amniocentesis done, i'm wondering does it hurt?

Amniocentesis: It's a sharp needle and yes it hurts although most patient do very well. A local anesthetic is given. If your amnio is just to test for down's syndrome talk to your doctor about the materna 21 blood test.
