Very successful: There are about 6, 000 liver transplants done in the us each year. The results for cirrhosis are quite good with nearly 90% survival 1 year, 70% at 5 years, and 50% at 10 years. If the cirrhosis was due to alcohol related liver disease, of course this is limited to those recovered alcoholics.
