What alzheimer's disease does to your brain and how does it kill you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neuron death: With ad there is an accumulation of abnormal proteins in the brain that result in death of the neurons. Ultimately, this results in an ability to perform even the most basic activities- even to swallow. End stage ad results in a bed bound, non verbal person that can not maintain any independent functions. The most common causes of death are related to infection- pneumonia, urine, bed sores.
