Schizoaffective: The symptoms of schizoaffective disorder include what are called positive symptoms such as hallucinations or delusions. The person they hear the room thoughts as being spoken aloud outside their head. The hallucinations tend to be auditory in nature so that the person hears voices talking at them but not with them inside their mind. The person they feel that they can magically read other people's thoughts or the others can magically insert thoughts into their mind or steal thoughts from their mind. They may feel as if the tv or radio are talking about them. The depressive symptoms include insomnia, sadness, feeling depressed, being suicidal, feeling hopeless hopeless worthless or guilty and having a decreasedsex drive. It is also possible to have excessive sleepiness. Appetite may go up or down causing weight gain or weight loss.If you feel like you are suffering from this, it is imperative that you see your family doctor for a physicalexam toexclude physical causes and then to see a psychiatristfor a medication evaluation and diagnostic evaluation. Additionally psychotherapy could be quite helpful.Some of my colleagues may add in other forms of treatment that are also used in this condition.
