I generally: Treat diverticulitis with 14 days of antibiotics, a liquid diet until pain and fever and white blood cell count normalize, then a low fiber diet for a full 6 weeks to let colon heal. If you are having repeated episodes of diverticulitis you should consider elective surgery to remove this portion of your colon and avoid future severe attacks or complications.
