Remember the song: Whistle a happy tune? The best defense against teasing, humiliation ; fear of embarrassment is to find a way to act as if it does not bother you. Make a counter joke and pretend that you think the teasing is funny. You can also talk to a therapist to come up with creative strategies. Bullies pick on people they feel are weak who seem upset by their humiliation. Make a new circle of friends, too.

CBT: Seek a cognitive-behavioral therapist who specializes in phobias. One method they use is systematic desensitization which slowly and incrementally brings the person closer and closer to the thing they are afraid of in slow, graduated steps that help make the anxiety more tolerable.
