EccentricConcentric: When you lower your body to the floor, this is considered an eccentric exercise, where you're applying the load and lengthening the musculotendonous unit as you go down further. When you push away from the floor, this is considered a concentric exercise, as you shorten the musculotendonous unit as the load is applied.
