A member asked:

Does there have to be a medical reason for a women to get a hysterectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: A reputable md always has a reason for major surgery such as hysterectomy. Additionally, pathology tissue committees make sure that the stated reason for surgery is confirmed on tissue examination. Too frequent "normal uterus" pathology reports will raise a "red flag" and hopefully the md has to answer why or risk losing their hospital privileges eventually through peer review.
