Not necessarily: Frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis is a complex condition of the shoulder that involves thickening and contracture of the capsule as well as potential associated tendinitis of the rotator cuff and biceps tendon. There are generally three phases to adhesive capsulitis. Each of these phases can last up to year to year and a half. Arthroscopic release of the capsule decompression of the subacromial space and manipulation under anesthesia can help facilitate recovery but not in every patient.
