CMP is often the re-: Sult of abnormal pressures on the patella's cartilage, from abnormal tracking of the patella. It causes pain around the front of the knee, with swelling at times. I get pt to teach vmo strengthening exercises. If no improvement in 3-4 months, you might need a scope surgery to look at the patellar tracking and require a lateral release. See an orthopod. Good luck.
