Sinus infection: This sounds like a sinus infection- which frequently starts as either a viral infection or an allergy. Use of topical nasal steroids, intranasal saline/netipot and/or decongestants can most likely aid in drainage and relief of pressure. If there is no relief with these interventions then your doctor should be reconsulted.

Drug failure: I rarely use Amoxicillin any more for infections due to frequent bacterial resistance. On the other hand, I use Amoxicillin clavulanate often because the bacteria are less resistant to it. You should talk to your doctor re. Changing your antibiotic.
